Return and Cancellation Policies

Canceling an Order

We generally cannot accept order cancellations, except as described in this section.

We try to keep the most popular books on our site in stock, but since that accounts for only a small fraction of the more than 20,000 books in our online database, we usually have to order your books from one or more of the 500 publishers with whom we work. Sometimes it takes longer to get your books if we have to follow up with the publisher, or the publisher’s designated distributor, one or even several times.

If we have been unable to get your book from a publisher within 8 weeks, you may cancel your order (or part of an order) by sending an email to books@booksinternational.com. If you have registered on our site, then you can check the status of your order online and to make sure that the book hasn’t already been shipped. After a book has been shipped, we cannot accept any cancellation request.

Returns

We generally cannot accept returned books for refund, credit or exchange, except as described in this section.

If a book arrives damaged, we will replace the damaged book at our expense. We do examine every book received from our publishers to ensure that the book is in new condition before shipping it on to you. We use clean packing materials that are designed to withstand the rigors of the international mail system. But we know that sometimes books can get damaged in transit, so if this happens, please send an e-mail as soon as possible to books@booksinternational.com to get a return authorization. Please note that in some cases, we may elect to replace the book without your returning the damaged copy to us, so it is important to contact us with any problem before mailing the book.

If, for some reason, you receive a different title than what you ordered, we will replace the book at our expense. In such a case, please send an e-mail as soon as possible to books@booksinternational.com to get a return authorization. Again, we may elect to replace the book without asking you to return the wrong book to us, so it is important to contact us with any problem before mailing the book back to us.

Privacy Policy

We collect information from you only for the purpose of shipping you the books that you order, and for the purpose of charging your credit card for the books that we ship to you. We will not transfer any information received from you, in any form, to anyone outside our company, for any other purpose.

We may, at some time in the future, send you occasional e-mails advising you of new publications or offering you a discount on books. You will be able to opt out of receiving any additional e-mails from us by clicking on a link within the body of the e-mail.
